The Kong and I

I love my Kong.

It loves me.

I give it lots of kisses.

I get this special dome-headed, zipped-up-eyes look of concentrated ecstasy.

The Kong is Mum's secret weapon. When I've been hyper for too long, harrassed the cats, annihilated a couple of cardboard boxes, knocked over Mum's beer bottle, tried to sneak some of Dad's dinner, barked at my imaginary friend, done enough training to be bored of it, chased the cats again, dug up the carpet, dropped a bad fart, bitten the sofa, raided the kitchen worktop for the fiftieth time, emptied the waste paper bin looking for beer bottle tops, raided the recycling bins under the stairs, chewed the wooden frame of the futon and thrown my bed around a bit...

...when none of that has worn me out, Mum gets out the Kong. Peace descends upon the land. They get to watch some tv. Newt settles down between them on the sofa for a snooze. All is well for twenty minutes.

ps
Just in case you wondered, that was a shortened list of my nightly activities. I like to keep them on their toes.

pps
Favourite filler for my Kong is live greek yoghurt diluted with water and frozen. Peanut butter comes close second. If only Mum could find a surefire way to plug the little hole while pouring things in to freeze.

  2. I am a new convert to the joy of the Kong. Ma laughs at me and says I am not good at getting things out of it. I can lick things like honey, marmite or peanut butter out, but stick a biscuit in there and I'm bewildered. Young Cassidy seems to have picked it up fast though,I'll have to ask her for tips.

  5. We're not so much kongophiles. If you use the god kind of plastic cling wrap you can wrap the outside and that'll plug the hole, or put iton its side in a zip-lock type bag. Have fun, Mojo!

  6. Ya know...we haven't had any good Kong time lately. We need to have a little talk with our Mother.

Mom plugs the hole on the outside with cream cheese and then stands it up in a coffee mug to fill. Then into the freezer it goes!

    Yum!

  7. love our kongs! Muzzer plugs the hole with lots of things...any kind of hard cheese shoved in from the smaller end...one of Teka's tooth diet puffy thingies, a nut, like a brazil nut or hazelnut, liverwurst(ymmy) or bone (biscuit to you) But she also uses the stand it up in a cup or bowl trick after that before she pops it into the freezer. We will have to try your frozen yogurt idea. thanks for visiting.

  8. Hi, Mojo
There are no Kongs here but sure looks like you can be entertained for a long time with yours! I think is time for my mom to get creative about something like this!
    Have a nice day

  10. Hey Mojo, I love my kongs too. I've got 3 in all different sizes. My favourite filling is low fat cream cheese mixed with a swirl of peanut butter. Plug the end with a dog biscuit and then freeze. I'm drooling here! J x
