trimming class

On Sunday we went back to where last week's Airedale Club fun day was held. This time it was to their trimming classes so Mum and Dad can figure out how to prevent me becoming a woolly mammoth. I've been doing a merino sheep impression lately and they thought it was time to release my inner Airedale.

So without any warning whatsoever I was put up on a trimming table and a lady snipped off all the heavy hair from my ears. Dad let out an audible gasp as he is very fond of my puppy curls. But as one of my ears is not standing up properly, they need to take the weight off. If that doesn't work, there are dark mutterings about gluing my ears and I DO NOT like the sound of that at all.

I'm not posting a pic of my trimmed ears yet. I am so shy. My parents keep looking at me and laughing, saying they don't recognise me. I don't recognise myself! I'm still a work in progress, waiting for proper grooming tools to arrive in the post. When I get my courage up I will show you the new me.

Here's two pics from the trimming class. When not on the table, we all got to charge around together and wrestle.

We all got to meet Saffie for the first time - she's 7 months old and her parents are concerned that she is still a little mouthy. So we thought we'd get her on the floor for a bit of socialisation, and she loved every minute. I'm the one on the left. You can spot me by the curly tail - I was born a couple of weeks after the tail-docking ban came into effect, so I'm one of the first Airedales around with a full-length plume.

  1. Your first haircut is always a dramatic change! Mom loves the shorter hairedo plus it'll keep you so much cooler! For some reason when we get groomed we get nuttier for a couple of days and tearass around the house! Maybe this will happen to you too?

    Love ya lots

  2. I never realised there were so many Airedales around, as I said before, dear Oscar was my first encounter. I know it won't be my last.
Grooming seems to be quite an event. Was amazed @ the huge table Oscar's mummy Katy had @ home. I presume you going to be a wiry-fur girl instead of a softy, due to regular beauty parlor trimming!

  5. Mojo!

Your trimming class looks like an excuse for a big pile of wrasslin' pups if you ask me! At least you don't have to go through your grooming pain alone. Right now, it's just me, my girl, and the clippers. (She's not big on stripping me since I'm not a showboat).

My girl loves my curls too, but it feels so good to be free from them every once in awhile. Don't be shy about your ears. I bet they're bootiful and now they are free to Aire out a little!

    Goober love,
    Stanley

  6. Aw Mojo, good luck to you once mum and dad get those grooming tools, there'll be no stopping them! Glad you had some fun at class as well as the hair pulling torture. Saffie is a cutie, we've met her a few times, and Martin had his nose bitten! There's a video on Oscar's site from the show in May of him trying to play with her.

  7. You need to post some pics of that haircut. We bet you look really nice. Sorry about the ear glue thing. But you did luck out on the tail docking thing. We are lucky because we were born without tails to begin with and our ears stand up. Hope all is well.

  8. Oh Mojo...I am the king of the glued ears. Yes, Mumsie glued mine for way too long. They look great now as long as I have enough scraggly fur on them to hold them down...they did stick up rather impressively, I thought! Post ur pics, I bet you look really cute!!!

    Wiry hugs, Scruffy

  9. I don't even remember my first airecut Mojo, it was a while ago. I bet your ears look real cute. We like having our airecuts because it gets a bit hot down here in Oz. It's starting to hot up now.

  12. Hi there I love your blog, I'm ludo and caz writes my blog.I remember my first haircut too, even though i was only tiny i was trimmed with the clippers by my breeder Doris. Since then Caz has hand stripped me.It is a long process but I sleep when she does it.I like to be stripped short it's cool. The good thing is I have a jet black jacket. I had my ears glued as a pup to, it did not hurt, they just glue your under ear hair to your head, it sounds painful but if done properly it does't. Caz just snipped the hair away after.
    Good luck with the grooming
